"On time and on budget"

“Building a custom home remotely can be a very stressful experience, add a global pandemic to this and you are dealing with a whole new level of anxiety none of us have experienced before! Rob and I chose custom home builder Paul Dabbs to build our dream home on Vancouver Island. From the onset Paul showed genuine interest in wanting to build our home. He visited our acreage. He spent time getting to know us and our values. Paul Dabbs met and exceeded the top five key factors we were searching for in a custom home builder. Being on time and staying on budget was top of mind for us. Paul Dabbs is an excellent communicator. He provided us with regular cash flow and variance reports, consequently there were no unexpected surprises as we always knew where we were at with the budget and timelines. This level of transparency allowed us to have peace of mind throughout the whole process of the build.

We chose to live on Vancouver Island because of its natural beauty, healthy ecosystems, good air quality and down-to-earth friendly people. It was important for us to live in harmony with our natural surroundings, to incorporate local materials in the build and where possible use local supply chain for building materials.  

Some of the key features we included in the design and build of our 2600 sq foot home include: large, tall windows to allow for a panoramic view of our tall trees, Douglas Fir beams at entrance, back patio and fireplace mantel, a large floor to ceiling wood-burning fireplace wall covered in Pangea Westcoast Castle Stone, an art studio, a bonus room, a large master bathroom with a custom walk-in steam shower with heated floors and heated seat.

Custom home builder Paul Dabbs and his team of highly skilled trades have done an amazing job of building our dream home. We were lucky to have had two of the best framers on the Island, Stu Redfern and Aaron Stranaghan
